Chevrolet drivers dominate Sprint Cup practice at California
FONTANA, Calif. – Chevrolet drivers took the top eight spots in Sprint Cup practice Friday afternoon at Auto Club Speedway in California.
Hendrick Motorsports’ Mark Martin led everyone with a lap of 182.927 mph, followed by Stewart-Haas Racing’s Ryan Newman (182.449) and Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing’s Juan Pablo Montoya (182.172).
Following those three drivers were Richard Childress Racing’s Jeff Burton, Clint Bowyer and Kevin Harvick and Hendrick’s Jimmie Johnson.
Penske Racing’s Kurt Busch, whose car suffered damage early in the practice, was the fastest non-Chevrolet, posting a post-damage lap of 181.406 mph.
Qualifying is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. EST.
