Carl Edwards won't cancel trip to Thailand

NEW YORK – Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards still plans to visit Thailand later this month, despite that country’s recent political turmoil.
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson canceled his planned trip after protestors targeted airports for sit-ins and even shut down the airport in Bangkok for a week.
But Edwards and his fiancé, Dr. Kate Downey, are not changing their plans to bike through the country.
“I am going to do it,” Edwards said. “If the airport is open, we’re going. I couldn’t be more excited about it.
“I talked to a couple of people, and they said it’s really a peaceful nation and even the protests are peaceful. I think it will be good.”
