WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Joe Gibbs Racing's Kyle Busch isn't counting on a win this weekend at Watkins Glen International. Right now, he's focusing on taking things one practice at a time in preparation for Sunday's Centurion Boats at The Glen NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

Busch is the series points leader, and a win Sunday would guarantee that no other contender could match him in bonus points once the Chase For The NASCAR Sprint Cup begins. He has seven wins this season with five races to go before that field is set. Roush Fenway Racing's Carl Edwards has four, but the 10 bonus points for one of those victories were forfeited as part of a penalty.

Busch said that his team doesn't try to work with different strategies this weekend but just focuses on the race at hand.

He has to be a driver to watch this weekend. After winning on the Mexico City road course in the Nationwide Series, he followed up
with a Sprint Cup victory on the Sonoma, Calif., road course.

Busch, though, quickly points out the differences in the race courses.

”This one here is more of a superspeedway atmosphere because of the speed here and the speed that you carry through the corners," Busch said in comparing the three tracks. "There’s only a couple slow corners - going up through the esses is pretty fast. Down the backstretch is pretty fast - you can keep more of a platform with your rear springs here than you need to get off the springs. Sonoma, you need all the forward bite you can get so you try to get soft springs.”

So Busch isn't counting on converting past success this weekend. He admits that a win would be nice.

“That would be awesome, but we don’t necessarily look toward that - what we look toward right now is practice and making our car the best that we can make it in order to have a fast piece so we can be a contender in the race," he said.

As he looks around him, he sees tight competition building. Unless something dramatic happens between now and when the Chase  starts in five weeks, Busch will enter that segment at least near the top of the pack, but with some others teams riding momentum.

Edwards and Hendrick Motorsports' Jimmie Johnson have been tough in recent weeks and appear to be cutting into the advantage Busch and his team have carried this season. He doesn't seem concerned, but he does recognize that the competition is gaining.

“Carl has been there all year long," Busch said. "I don’t know if he’s had bad luck in the past 10 weeks or what where he hasn’t won that much, but he’s been fast every single place we’ve been to. He’s always a threat for the win. The 48 [team of Johnson] has definitely stepped it up. They’ve come a long way, and they’re a lot better now. It’s just a product of trying to make your equipment better, and they have.”

Although extremely lame and ridiculous looking, the triangle goat-beard was considered a symbol of power in ancient times. Notice also that Satan himself is often depicted with a greasy triangle goat-beard to go along with his horns and forked-tounge. Could Kyle really be the 'devil' as some believe??!?!?

He can't be the devil. The Devil would never choose the number 18, come'on. His number would have some 6's in it.

There is no one that should be afraid of Busch unless he's trying to pass you because he proved today that he can't pass clean.

He ALSO proved today that he can put a bumper on someone.....do a 360 degree spin himself......save it.....AND then still take the lead!!! After watching that..... I'm thinking that even the Devil should FEAR HIM!

Chrissie Bennett- For someone who dislikes KB so dam much you sure like to spend your time reading stories about him. He raced for a team that has never raced before so I think he did great for that team by finishing 2nd. So you see he did win for them just by finishing.

Pearl Roll there is no need for you to swear at me be an adult and don't swear. Who said I read the story? For someone who doesn't like Dale Junior you sure to read a lot of stories about him so I guess we are even.

Oh and Pearl Roll coming in second is not winning so you see he did NOT win. hitting someone from behind and spinning them is not passing them clean. So you see

Thank you Mr. Dirt for correcting me. What up to this point has been speculation, is now confirmed. Kyle Busch really IS the Devil.....or at least a close facsimile. Soon he will drive the 666.
