Budweiser Shootout has 24 entries
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – With new eligibility rules in place this year, there are 24 entries for the 2010 Budweiser Shootout, which is scheduled for Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway.
The only mild surprise on the list is Derrike Cope, who is listed as the owner of the No. 75 Dodge that he will drive in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event.
The 24 entries include:
• 2009 Chase For The Sprint Cup participants: Kurt Busch, Mark Martin, Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jimmie Johnson, Brian Vickers, Carl Edwards.
• Past Cup champions: Bobby Labonte, Matt Kenseth.
• Past Budweiser Shootout champions: Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ken Schrader (driving for Red Bull Racing).
• Past Daytona 500 and Coke Zero 400 winners: Jamie McMurray, Kyle Busch, Jeff Burton, John Andretti, Michael Waltrip, Cope.
• Reigning Raybestos Rookie of the Year: Joey Logano.
Practice for the event will be Thursday, and the draw for starting position will be held Thursday night.
Twenty-eight drivers were eligible for starting positions in the 75-lap non-points event. Those eligible but not participating are Terry Labonte, Geoffrey Bodine, Dale Jarrett and Sterling Marlin.
