Penske Racing officials announced Monday that Brad Keselowski will replace David Stremme in the organization’s No. 12 Dodge for the remaining three NASCAR Sprint Cup races this season.
Penske had originally said Keselowski would join the team next year. He will compete full time in the Cup and Nationwide series for Penske in 2010.
Keselowski begins his tenure with Penske in this weekend’s Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.
“Penske Racing wants to give Brad an opportunity to work with the team and get to know the race car as we prepare for the 2010 season," team owner Roger Penske said in a news release. "These three races will provide a good base for both Brad and the team as we head into next year.
“Penske Racing also thanks David Stremme for his contributions to the team this year. We wish David the very best moving forward."
Keselowski has raced in 12 Cup events this year, with a victory and four top-10 finishes.
"I am very excited to begin working with the Penske Racing team and I look forward to competing in the No. 12 Penske Dodge in the final three Cup series races of the year," Keselowski said. "We all have high expectations for next season and beyond and being able to race with the team this year will only help us as we look toward 2010."

Nov 2, 2009 at 5:12 PMI hate Brad, and Penske was a mistake to hire him. There's JUST no reason why he always has to have a chip on his shoulder, it's not like he grew up with split parents and then a foster home and is now riding the bus to get foodstamps downtown.
What a baby, who knows what his major malfunction is.

Nov 2, 2009 at 5:20 PM...hopefully he'll race Jimmie Johnson hard - something nobody else on the race track seems like they're willing to do the past few years.

Nov 2, 2009 at 5:25 PMAmen Mr Waybright! I'm hoping 12 will do what it takes to win. Everyone else is so busy trying to play nice and curtsey around the 48 that they have forgotten how to make a hole and get to the front.

Nascar is afraid of the #18 and ticking of Hendrick lol

Nov 2, 2009 at 8:06 PMI agree with #1, 2 & 3. #4 & 5 you want him to race the 48 hard and "do what ever it takes", lets see how you feel when it's your favorite driver he's wrecking. And no I am not particulary a Jimmie Johnson fan.

Nov 2, 2009 at 8:20 PMTalking about crash, how many crash was Stremme involved? It cannot be worst with Brad but at least the #12 car might be running in the top 10. Good decision from Penske.

Nov 3, 2009 at 1:51 PMIn this sport or any other you got to be/show aggressiveness or your' out. Kesski has shown that and Penski or I mean Penske believes he can fine polish the rough edges of this up and coming driver.

Nov 3, 2009 at 2:34 PMIt's not like he doesn't know what he's doing... he's being the loose cannon on purpose while he's got the yellow stripe. Brad is going to take his payback like a man and still win races in 2010. And #10, my guy is the wreck-or not the wreck-ee. I wonder which of the next three races he's going to win?

Nov 3, 2009 at 4:26 PMI am a 2 fan and I will be the first to say that I can't imagine the Penske cars being more accident prone the remaining 3 races than they have been all season. There is always a Penske car crashing somewhere. I just hope he stirs things up and makes the last 3 races interesting.

Nov 3, 2009 at 4:56 PMI will say that brad races everyone hard. he doesn't give anyone any space, BUT, and that's a BIG but. . . he has a lot of talent and he will learn how to calm down. He is a rookie and will learn what it means to give and take. It is something everyone has to learn. Remember the first time him and Denny Hamlin got in a fight Denny is the one that cried like a baby. Brad has a lot of talent and he will be a great success once he has time to learn.

And Get rid of restrictor plates the COT, And have some real Fords, Chevys, Dodges, Toyo's , junk the 35 mile an hour road course s Bristol is good but some of the other short tracks are stupid, lets go, I,m just sick of going to sleep waiting for some excitement and somebody else to race up front.

Nov 3, 2009 at 6:48 PMOn the bright side, Rick Mears has quietly been driver coach over there since he retired. Probably a big reason Kurt has matured. He will have his hands full with this swollen headed punk. You can't find a guy in racing with more class than Rick, so hopefully some of his racing wisdom will rub off on Krash.

nascarnutsheeler said:
Nov 4, 2009 at 12:00 AMWerner, you are absolutly right Buddy Baker was coach at Penske for years even when they were running Fords untill Dodge came back into racing. Roger switched to Dodge when Dymler (Sp)was involved with Dodge, they were also involved with Freightliner and that is mainly what Penske had in Penske Truck rental. So it was a given that he would switch to Dodge.

Nov 4, 2009 at 12:20 AMCan't stand Brad, I hope people wake up and see that this guy is dangerous. I am now going to become a Kyle Busch fan and I will love to see the 18 put the 12 into the wall.
wmvjr1960 said:
Nov 4, 2009 at 2:49 AMWerner- I'm not exactly sure of Rick's official job title, consultant or something like that. And I don't know about Baker. But it would only be logical for him to be trying to tame these wild kids. Rick has been with Penske ever since he won Indy in '79. I like a guy with loyalty, not ingrates like Kurt, Kyle and Brad who play musical chairs with owners, manufacturers, crew chiefs. Roger P. is gold as far as integrity goes.
xbrownsx said:
Nov 4, 2009 at 9:25 AM#41, Brad did nothing wrong in the spring race, he held his line, kept his foot in the gas, while Edwards moved down on him to block. The #99 paid the price into the fence because of the #99's own stupid act. The reason the #99 driver was walking on crutches for 6+ weeks, he does dumb things. Brad is no more of a hothead than Dale Sr. was thru his career. Some of you are novice, newbie NASCAR fans from your lack of knowledge of this sport. The #48 wrecked a lot of cars early in his career, same with the #24, same with the #8. What will be glaring, is when Keselowski has more wins than Dale Jr. 2-3 years from now. Then what will Hendrick, JR. and his fans excuses be? ha ha
GO #12 DODGE! Go get'em Brad...!

Nov 4, 2009 at 12:20 PMI am with you Werner. I remember Buddy Baker having lots of input with Ryan Newman but not Rick. As far as I remember Rick Mears never had anything to do with Nascar only Indy. Maybe that has changed since the shops are the same now. And I am not sure why WMVJR1960 views Kurt as a musical chair player. He has driven for 2 owners and each had a different manufacturer. And a crew chief change fow a sick wife is noble enough. Kyle has only driven for 2 also. Isn't that how many owners Rick Mears drove for?!

Nov 4, 2009 at 12:40 PMKeselowski is going find out what it is like in equipment that isnt always as good as what he has been racing in. I think a hungry, aggresive driver is refreshing. Every one of these guys have wrecked someone or something in their careers. I cant wait to see him race with Hamlin every week. They both like to run into people. Heres to hoping they qualify next to each other for the next three weeks. Its going to be funny if the 12 car is in the chase next year, while getting that 11 car out! We shall see if Brad Keselowski is even around in three years.
jdxenterprises said:
Nov 4, 2009 at 12:45 PMI am thinking the same way as you Werner. I don't remember Rick Mears ever working with Ryan but I definately remember Buddy Baker having a hand in his early career. I didn't think Rick worked on anything other than Indy cars at Penske. Maybe that has changed in the last few years since the shop change though.
THEBIGKESELOWSKI said:
Nov 4, 2009 at 1:40 PMNothing wrong with Penske equipment. It's who's in the driver seat. Kurt is a prima dona and blames everyone but himself for the 2's performance. Sammy is getting better but he is trying too hard to be like Mike (Waltrip) and crash out every week. Brad is going in there with his head on straight and a focus on winning... not whining.

Nov 4, 2009 at 6:35 PMGee I like drivers, Crew, even some of you, but but some of you need to get involved with SCCA, sporty Car guys and Gals, they go like sorry, did I get dirt on your car I'll polish it for you sir. I mean this is nascar, always was and I guess am one trying to root for the good ol boys racing to win. whats dangerous at all is this stupid COT, restrictor plates and some other rules, NOT ALL BAD RULES THOUGH, pit speeds and some of them are good ideas.

Nov 4, 2009 at 7:38 PMYou go Brad. You have got the chance and the ability to prove everybody wrong. Don't change anything about how you drive just put that #12 car where you can. Let everybody else worry about where you are on the track, that is their problem not yours. Drive the wheels off of the car.

Brad doesn't back down if the other guys can't take it then they should not be driving.Go Brad

Nov 5, 2009 at 10:06 AMWhy would he want to drive a dodge????
xbrownsx said:
Nov 8, 2009 at 3:03 AM#51 What a dumb take. DODGE has a rich, long and storied history in NASCAR. That's the reason why Brad would want to drive a Dodge -- oh and to get a seat in the top series of NASCAR?...
You think 80% of the drivers out there actually care what make of car they are driving?
You don't think there are 150+ race car drivers across the USA would gladly step into the #12 Dodge?
Then we have you and your brilliant insight: "Why would he want to drive a dodge"? By the way DODGE is a proper name. Use a capitol "D". Thanks.
