DARLINGTON, S.C.Greg Biffle heads into this weekend shooting for his third Sprint Cup Series win at Darlington Raceway.

Although the track has been repaved since Biffle earned those two wins, the Roush Fenway Racing driver is still feeling pretty confident about his chances in Saturday night’s Dodge Challenger 500 Sprint Cup race.

Biffle participated in a recent tire test at the track and says that while the track is different, he thinks it will still take the same type of driving to find success on it.

“It definitely changes the dynamic of this track 100 percent,” he said Friday at the track. “Before, it was about car control and throttle control, and it’s still about that, but it’s kind of different. I don’t know how to explain it because the tire doesn’t wear out much, much faster, so there’s a lot of things that have changed about it, but it’s still going to be the same thing.”

Biffle, who enters the race in ninth place in the driver standings, says that he has a good-handling car this weekend. It handled well in practice, and he was among the leaders in speeds, breeding increased confidence heading into the race.

Biffle clearly likes Darlington. Not only do his wins on the 1.366-mile track show that, but he’s so enamored of the type of racing it produces that he thinks the race should occupy a different date – one that puts it in the 10-race, title-determining Chase.

"I think a lot of the fans and drivers would rather see a place like this in the Chase than a place like Talladega, where it’s just throw the dice and see who ends up where and who ends up in a big wreck,” he said. “This is about driving. Talladega is not about driving.”

Biffle has made it clear that he intends to remain at Roush Fenway after his contract expires at the end of this season – and not just for next year, but for the remainder of his Cup career.

After making statements clarifying that position last week at Richmond, he says there has been no movement on his contract over the past few days. “I haven’t even worked on it,” he said. “ I haven’t done anything on it the last couple of weeks.”

He said that not only has he not been focusing on it, but to his knowledge, none of his representatives has met with anybody from the organization. That doesn’t mean, though, that he’s not interested in staying – just that he’s been busy.

“I haven’t talked to anybody, really,” he said. “This week was sort of off the radar for me because we tested [at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for two days] and did all that, so this is a busy week and so is next week with the Nationwide testing. I haven’t really been paying attention to any of that stuff. I’ve been worrying about the race car right now.”
