Adam Alexander, who is part of Speed’s NASCAR Truck Series coverage as well as an announcer for Motor Racing Network, will be the play-by-play announcer for the six Sprint Cup races on TNT, the cable network announced Thursday.

Alexander replaces Bill Weber, who was removed from the booth prior to the June race at New Hampshire last year. He was replaced by pit reporter Ralph Sheheen for the final three TNT races in 2009.

Pit reporters Sheheen, Marty Snider and Matt Yocum return to their roles, as do analysts Kyle Petty and Wally Dallenbach.

“Adam’s knowledge of the sport and his smooth delivery make him an excellent addition, and we’re confident that he will bring out the best in Wally and Kyle in the broadcast booth,” said Jeff Behnke, senior vice president and executive producer for Turner Sports. “Adam has a terrific reputation within NASCAR, and we have appreciated his work for a long time.”

Pit reporter Lindsay Czarniak has been moved into the role as the host for the “Countdown to Green” prerace show, where she will be joined by Larry McReynolds and Petty. Czarniak is as full-time sports anchor at NBC’s WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., and in 2008 was a studio host of NBC’s coverage of the Olympics.

“Lindsay’s experience as veteran studio host, along with the enthusiasm, energy and knowledge she has cultivated as a pit reporter for the past three years on TNT, make her ideal to serve as TNT’s studio host,” Behnke said.

TNT also announced that for the race at Daytona, it would use its “wide-open” coverage – coverage limited to full-screen local advertising with all other advertising on a portion of the screen while the race is running – for the fourth consecutive year.

Alexander will continue his role as a pit reporter for Speed's coverage of the Truck Series and as a studio host for "The SPEED Report," "NASCAR Race Hub" and "NASCAR in a Hurry."
