7 reasons to watch the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway: No. 2 - The track

By Lee Montgomery - Associate Editor

Homestead-Miami Speedway is on its third track configuration, but this one is one of the favorites of the NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers.

The 1.5-mile track is a true oval, with progressive banking in the corners. Drivers love being able to use multiple grooves at any track, and they definitely can at Homestead.

Does it guarantee side-by-side racing? No, but you can bet you sill see plenty of that this weekend.

I'll believe "you can bet you still will see plenty of (side by side) racing this weekend" when Homestead reaches 40 official lead changes in the 400.

I expect to see side by side racing for 2 laps after each fake "debris" caution. Then it will return to follow the leader and don't touch Jimmy.

Hope JJ doesn't make 1 lap before he blows up or is taken out...only then will we see a real race instead of the jokes of recent weeks.

I am with big J and would like to see little Jimi taken out or blow up so bad he runs dead last. What a joke this season has been.

I will be watching the pre-race show to see my driver, Jeff Gordon. Then I will be switching off the race because I refuse to watch Johnson get the trophy again. The last 4 seasons have been a huge migraine. I don't need the grief. Next season I will do the same. I'll watch the pre-race shows to see Jeff's interviews and then I'll turn off the radio and the TV. I might actually get some stuff done that has been sitting around forever. If anything good happens, I can always watch Victory Lane. Other than that I don't care anymore. I will always support Jeff, but I am trying to beat my addiction to NASCAR because it is so frustrating. Next year it's guaranteed that we'll have a 5-peat. So why bother? When a whole season means something again, I might come back. But I might as well get used to it, because when Jeff retires I'm gone anyway. Don't hand me the line about just being a fan of wonderful racing. That's a crock! And just once I'd like to see my driver get the credit he deserves as the majority owner of the 48. Rick always basks in the limelight, while my driver, the primary owner, sits in the garage. Rick wouldn't have signed Jimmie if it hadn't been for Jeff putting up the money to field the 48. Granted, it's the dumbest decision Jeff ever made- but he should get some acknowledgement as the owner of the car. Enjoy it, 48ers. And don't forget to catch the big sale on your driver's merchandise when it's stacked up in the warehouse. Where have all the race fans gone? To regain their sanity, they've gone wherever there's nothing with a 48 on it. ABJ&C.

IF one of the FORDS win, it will be a good race. I will be switching back and forth between Packer Football, and IF the racing is bad, it will be mostly football.

It would be a good race if anyone but Jimi wins.
