45 teams on preliminary Auto Club Speedway Sprint Cup entry list

Forty-five teams are on the preliminary entry list for Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway in California.
Part-time drivers or those sharing rides that will be attempting to make the field are Mike Bliss (No. 09 Phoenix Racing Dodge), Max Papis (No. 13 Germain Racing Toyota), Michael McDowell (No. 36 Tommy Baldwin Racing Toyota), Tony Raines (No. 37 Front Row Motorsports Dodge), Mike Wallace (No. 64 Gunselman Motorsports Toyota), David Gilliland (No. 71 TRG Motorsports Chevrolet), Regan Smith (No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet) and Bobby Labonte (No. 96 Hall of Fame Racing Ford).
Ten teams will be vying for the eight spots available to those outside the top 35 in owners points. The drivers who need to make the race based on qualifying speed are Bliss, Papis, McDowell, Raines, Wallace, Prism Motorsports' Dave Blaney, Gilliland, Smith, Red Bull Racing's Scott Speed and Nemco Motorsports' Joe Nemechek.
Practices for the race begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT Friday with qualifying schedule for 6:40 p.m. The race is slated to begin shortly after 3:15 p.m. EDT Sunday.
