LEBANON, Tenn. – Rusty Wallace Racing’s David Stremme, a late substitution at Nashville Speedway, led the opening NASCAR Nationwide Series practice Friday.
Stremme, who replaced Chase Austin this weekend in the No. 64 the two were expected to share this season, led the Pepsi 300 practice with a lap of 159.806 mph. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch was second fastest with a lap of 159.768 mph.
Fitz Motorsports’ Mike Bliss, Richard Childress Racing’s Clint Bowyer and RWR’s Steve Wallace rounded out the top five.
Richard Childress Racing’s Stephen Leicht, Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards, JTG Racing’s Kelly Bires, Braun Racing’s Denny Hamlin and Gillett Evernham Motorsports’ Chase Miller rounded out the top 10.
Sadler-Hamilton Racing's Willie Allen hit the wall late in the session.
The Nationwide teams are scheduled to practice again at 5:30 p.m. EDT with the race scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday.
