LEBANON, Tenn. – David Stremme topped the final NASCAR Nationwide Series practice Friday night at Nashville Superspeedway, turning a lap of 160.045 mph in Rusty Wallace Racing’s No. 64 Chevrolet.
Stremme edged rookie phenom Joey Logano, who went 159.731 mph in Joe Gibbs Racing’s No. 20 Toyota in preparation for Saturday's Federated Auto Parts 300. Clint Bowyer, who arrived from Pocono Raceway for the final practice, was third in Richard Childress Racing’s No. 2 Chevrolet.
Mile Bliss (Phoenix Racing) was fourth, with Mike Wallace (Germain Racing) fifth. Sixth through 10th were Marcos Ambrose (JTG Racing), David Reutimann (Michael Waltrip Racing), Steve Wallace (RWR), David Ragan (Roush Fenway Racing) and Kelly Bires (JTG).
Sprint Cup drivers Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway) and Ragan arrived from Pocono Raceway in time for the practice, and Bowyer and Reutimann were hustling to their cars soon after practice had started.
Greg Biffle and Jason Leffler, who are also racing in Nashville on Saturday night, elected to skip Friday’s Nationwide practice. Subbing for Biffle in Roush Fenway Racing’s No. 16, Casey Atwood was 25th. Subbing for Leffler in Braun Racing’s No. 38, Chad Blount was 28th.
Willie Allen drove Braun’s No. 32 in place of Kyle Busch, who was running Friday night’s Craftsman Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. Allen was 21st-fastest in the second practice.
JR Motorsports’ Landon Cassill cut down a tire and scraped the wall early in the session, but the crew worked to repair the right-side damage to the No. 5 Chevrolet.
Qualifying is set for 3:35 p.m. EDT on Saturday, with the 225-lap race at 7:30 p.m.
