KANSAS CITY, Kan. – NASCAR driver Stanton Barrett plans to broaden his horizons next season, adding a full run in the IndyCar Series to his driving duties.

Barrett, who competes on a part-time basis for Ski Motorsports in the Sprint Cup Series and for his own team (in a partnership with Ski) in the Nationwide Series, is not completely leaving stock cars, though.

He says that he plans to participate in NASCAR's Cup season-opening Daytona 500 and its qualifying events and to continue to drive in 10 Nationwide races next season, in addition to running the full IndyCar schedule. He will compete for the Curb/Agajanian/Team 3G team in the IndyCar ranks and for Team 3G in the Nationwide.

"It's going to be a challenge, definitely, going over to the IndyCar series, but I know quite a bit about the series," he said. "… [My] 15 years of experience with [NASCAR], I think will help a little bit, even though the cars are quite a bit different."

Barrett did not announce full primary sponsorship, but does have Interush.net, Phytter Phone, Curb Records and Grandstay.net as participating sponsors. He will drive Chevrolets in NASCAR.

"I think it's a great opportunity to get into the series," he said of the IndyCar opening.

Barrett has competed in the Cup series on a limited basis since 1999, with 22 starts to his credit. He's been running part time in the Nationwide Series since 1992 and has 169 starts there to his credit.

Would like to see Stanton get into a sucessful venue to be a winner. He's been around long enough, just never been in a competitive ride. Good Luck Stanton.
