Shelby Howard replaces Mark Green in ML Motorsports' Nationwide entry

ML Motorsports has signed 23-year-old Shelby Howard to replace Mark Green in the No. 70 Nationwide Series car, according to a news release from the team.

Howard will begin as driver with next week's race at Texas Motor Speedway.

“Mark Green did a good job for us and helped us develop our program,” team owner Mary Louise Miller said. “We’re a small team and Mark provided much experience. Shelby Howard is someone we have looked at for some time and we felt that now is a good time to start working together."

ML Motorsports has run a partial Nationwide schedule the last few years with Green. He qualified 31st and finished 18th in the season opener at Daytona but failed to qualify at Bristol.

Howard drove for ThorSport Racing last year, finishing 17th in the Truck standings. He won his first ARCA race at age 17 in Salem, Ind.

Howard will be teamed up with crew chief Brian Ross.

I wonder if the team ever considered the problem was the equipment and not the driver? Mark Green knows how to get the most from a car and he takes care of his stuff.

This is a GREAT opportunity for Shelby and we wish him the best. Watching his career expand has been a good thing. We hope the owner will supply him with the best equipment possible with their budget.
