Former NASCAR Cup champion Rusty Wallace will host a roast honoring longtime NASCAR team owner Richard Childress Thursday at Iowa Speedway, site of Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race.
Wallace, a board member of the NASCAR Foundation, will team with his brother, Nationwide Series driver Kenny Wallace, to host Rusty’s Roast of Richard Childress presented by Musco Lighting at the Newton Club. Proceeds from the roast will benefit The NASCAR Foundation, which supports several children’s charities.
Childress and his Richard Childress Racing organization has won 91 NASCAR Cup races and six Cup championships, all with legendary driver Dale Earnhardt. RCR has also won three Nationwide Series championships with Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer and two team car owner championships. RCR also won the first NASCAR Truck Series championship with Mike Skinner in 1995.
RCR currently fields Cup cars for Harvick, the points leader, Bowyer and Jeff Burton, who are also in the top 12 in points. The team also fields a Truck Series entry for Austin Dillon, Childress’ grandson, and Nationwide cars for various drivers.
Among the guests who will help roast Childress will be Bowyer, NASCAR President Mike Helton and former RCR team member and SIRIUS NASCAR Radio host Chocolate Myers.
