Roush Fenway Racing's Carl Edwards spins, leads final Nationwide practice
HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards bounced back from a spin to lead the final NASCAR Nationwide Series practice Friday night at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Edwards spun off Turn 4 early in the session but didn’t hit anything. Later in the 40-minute practice, Edwards turned a lap of 168.613 mph to move to the top of the chart.
Kevin Harvick Inc.’s Ryan Newman was second at 167.984 mph, with CJM Racing’s Denny Hamlin third at 167.764.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, who will clinch the Nationwide title when he takes the green flag of the Ford 300 on Saturday, was fourth. Michael Waltrip Racing’s Scott Speed was fifth.
Richard Childress Racing’s Jeff Burton was sixth, followed by JR Motorsports’ Brad Keselowski in seventh, Roush Fenway’s Erik Darnell in eighth, Day Enterprises Racing’s Mark Day in ninth and Braun Racing’s Jason Leffler in 10th.
Qualifying is slated for 11:35 a.m. EST Saturday, with the 200-lap race set to begin shortly after 4:30 p.m.
