Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards will have a new crew chief atop the pit box for next week’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Roush Fenway Racing announced Wednesday that Mike Kelley, crew chief for the No. 6 Nationwide team with David Ragan and Erik Darnell, will assume crew chief duties for the No. 60 team of Edwards, effective immediately. Edwards’ former crew chief, Dan Stillman, will take over as crew chief of the No. 6 team.
Edwards, who won the series title in 2007, is 215 points behind Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch with three races left this season.
Edwards has four victories and 21 top-five finishes this season, while the No. 6 team is ninth in the owner standings with two victories and 10 top-five finishes this year.
The drivers for the No. 6 team for next year have not been determined, but it’s likely that a mix of Sprint Cup drivers will share time in that seat.
