DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR confiscated the carburetor from David Reutimann’s Michael Waltrip Racing Nationwide Series Toyota earlier this week after it was found to have an illegal venturi.
MWR officials referred questions to Toyota, which builds the team’s engines. A spokesman for Toyota said the manufacturer would have no comment until after any possible penalties were announced. The spokesman also said all other Toyota engines, most of which are built by Toyota Racing Development, passed inspection.
Reutimann, with a different carburetor, qualified 18th for Saturday’s Camping World 300.
