RICHMOND, Va. – NASCAR Nationwide Series qualifying has been canceled because of rain at Richmond International Raceway.
The session was originally scheduled to begin shortly after 4 p.m. EDT.
The area is bracing for the potential impact of Tropical Storm Hanna, with the rains originating in the bands from the storm.
Joe Gibbs Racing's Joey Logano will start on the pole position for the Emerson Radio 250 by virtue of his No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team being first in 2008 Nationwide owners points.
Richard Childress Racing's Clint Bowyer, who is first in the driver standings but second in owners points, will go off second.
The race is slated to begin tonight at 8 p.m. EDT.
The No. 0 Davis Motorsports entry of Larry Gunselman withdrew from the race, meaning the other 43 entries all make the field.
