There weren't that many bad calls on timing and pitstops.
MEXICO CITY – David Ragan has an “O+” by the name on his uniform, designating his blood type.
Drivers occasionally put their blood type on their firesuits in case they are in an accident and are rushed to a hospital.
Ragan said his suit maker Sabelt asked him for his blood type before it started making suits for him this year.
“It’s something I’ve never done,” Ragan said Friday at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. “A lot of people don’t have an idea what their blood type is. I had to go give blood to find out what my blood type is.”
The Roush Fenway Racing driver isn’t the first driver in NASCAR to have his blood type on the uniform but it is fairly rare to have that.
“They should put it on everyone’s,” Ragan said Friday at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. “Certainly down here in Mexico or when you’re at a track where they don’t know what is going on, it might help you out a lot.”
