RCR's Jeff Burton leads opening Nationwide practice at Homestead

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Richard Childress Racing’s Jeff Burton paced Friday’s opening NASCAR Nationwide Series practice at Homestead-Miami Speedway, leading the way with a lap of 166.584 mph.
Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards (166.543) and CJM Racing’s Denny Hamlin (166.052) were second and third, respectively.
Michael Waltrip Racing’s Scott Speed and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch completed the top five. Roush Fenway’s Matt Kenseth, Yates Racing’s Paul Menard, Phoenix Racing’s Mike Bliss, JR Motorsports’ Brad Keselowski and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Joey Logano filled out the top 10.
The session was slowed twice for accidents, as Ware Racing’s Tim Andrews spun alone early, and JD Motorsports’ Jeremy Clements later crashed in Turn 4.
On-track activities in preparation for Saturday’s Ford 300 Nationwide race resume with a final practice at 6:40 p.m. EST Friday.
