JTG Daugherty Racing’s Marcos Ambrose, Gillett Evernham Motorsports’ Patrick Carpentier and Jacques Villeneuve, who is driving the No. 32 Braun Racing entry, completed the top five.
Positions six through 10 went to Ron Fellows (JR Motorsports), Boris Said (Team Rensi Motorsports), Steve Wallace (RWR), Brad Coleman (Baker Curb Racing) and Joey Logano (Joe Gibbs Racing).
The session was held in a European-style format in which drivers qualified in groups of five for 15 minutes.
