Penske signs Justin Allgaier as part-time Nationwide Series driver

Penske Racing has named Justin Allgaier as its Nationwide Series driver for select races in 2008 and 2009.

“We’ve had our eye on Justin for some time, and Penske Racing is fortunate to be in a position to bring him on board,” Penske Racing president Tim Cindric said in a news release. “Roger always enjoys the opportunity to grow people within our system and we are looking forward to helping him achieve his career goals.”

The 22-year-old Allgaier was the youngest driver in Chili Bowl history to advance to the final event when he accomplished that feat in the prestigious Midget race at age 14. Allgaier has three career ARCA wins and 13 top-10s in 18 career ARCA races. He also has competed in eight Craftsman Truck Series races.

“What a great opportunity to join Penske Racing and to show what we are capable of together in the Nationwide Series,” Allgaier said.

It doesnt matter who Penske brings in. They arent going anywhere. They will yet again MAYBE win one race in 2009 with Busch. IT really doesnt matter who Allgaier is because if he is with Penske, he is doomed from the start.

Justin has been running the ARCA series for the last 3 years full time with a family owned car. He has in his 3 seasons finished in the top 10 in points each year. Penske might not be the best team in Nascar, but it will still be an opportunity for a young driver.

Justin is one of the finer young men around and being able to drive the wheels off of a race car also helps. Ace Racer you may not know who is now but believe me you will know before long. He not only drives in ARCA but is very good in midgets and dirt late models .

well said Cam, I was at Springfield mile when he one his 1st ARCA race. The crowd was louder than the cars racing by for the checkered. He is an all around genuinely nice guy.

He runs in the ARCA Series ,and late models. He also ran the truck race at Ky this year. from what I see he has some wins in ARC and in Midgets. Yes it could be Penske trying to keep up.

Wow !! Such negativity Ace & Ryden. Why don't you give Justin & Penske a chance to show what they can do together before you start giving your opinion? Congratulations Justin. We're very proud of you. You've worked very hard for this chance now Live Your Dream !!

I am really ticked off at penske now. who is this justin kid never heard of him. why keep bringing these KIDS into the series when there are lots of regular drivers not having a ride come 2009. Like Patrick C. He would probably be great running full time in any ride. He can qualifity he can drive a car and has a great out look about racing and nascar. I sure hope someone picks patrick up soon. If i had the money i would love to start a one car team with him. Good luck PATRICK

To Pat Draper....this Justin "kid" happens to be a 22 year old who has been racing for 17 years! If you read the press release, you will see some of his credentials. He has been racing the past few years for his family owned team full time on the ARCA Re/Max Series and contending for win and has been in the top ten in points the past 3 years. He has been competing weekly with teams with Developemental teams or Sprint Cup ties and much, much more resources than his family could provide. If you look in the results, he finishes right up there with the ones who have much more money in their operation. I am sorry your driver hasn't been signed yet and I hope he does but Justin deserves a chance to break thru just as much as the next guy. Apparently the Penske team has seen something in Justin that they wanted to pursue. He's done this on his own talent as he doesn't have millions of dollars to bring to a team like alot of these drivers coming up these days. I wish Justin and the Penske team the best of luck and much success!

does'nt make n e dif who he is. it just shows the lack of respect penske has for racing. ditto there r lots of good drivers to put in the car. r'nt the owners tired of building cars for new drivers to wreck? believe it or not, i dont watch and support racing to see "the big one"/

hey why are all these posting comments so down on penske lets see what the team can do in 09 ok if they dont improve as you all are suggesting then you are right in saying what you say but if they succeed just hope you all will be enough to come back and say you were wrong but that i doubt its the way non believers are get a life

And.....since this announcement about Justin signing with Penske, he went to the brand new road course in New Jersey after never even driving on a road course until 5 days before the race and won! Good job Justin!
