HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Penske Racing President Tim Cindric said the team is getting closer on naming a crew chief for Brad Keselowski in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide series for 2010.

Keselowski will drive the team’s No. 12 Dodge in Cup and the No. 22 Dodge in Nationwide competition. While the Cup team is established, the Nationwide team is in the building process.

“We don’t have anything to announce, obviously,” Cindric said at Homestead-Miami Speedway. “I always thought that time makes you a little bit smarter. You know a little bit more, and every day something new comes up. I think we’re close on all fronts, but we’re not ready to announce anybody. We don’t have anyone signed. We think we’ve narrowed it down to a couple guys in each category.”

Cindric said a team manager for the Nationwide program has been selected and will be announced soon.

“We’ve determined who that is but we’re not ready to announce that yet,” Cindric said. “We’re looking to hit the ground running as soon as Thanksgiving’s over. We’re hoping we have a crew chief in place by then, but it depends on whether a couple things work the way we want them to.”

Keselowski said that while he would prefer to have crew chiefs for both teams in place now, he understands the process.

“It’s more important to make the right decision than to make a decision,” Keselowski said. “Do I wish it was done? Oh, yeah. But I feel better to know that the time is being taken to make the right decision than to just make a decision.”
