SK Motorsports says Patrick Carpentier will return to the seat of the team’s Toyota for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 23.
Carpentier, who finished 17th in his first start for the team last weekend at Darlington, was tabbed as a last-minute replacement for David Green in that race.
“I am really pumped to know that I’ll be racing again with these guys,” the former open-wheel driver said. “It might not be the biggest team on the grid, but they know what they are doing, and we hit it off right away. Communication was great from the beginning with the entire team and especially crew chief Roger Johnson. I can’t wait to build on what we learned in Darlington.”
Jared Keeney, co-owner of the newly formed SK Motorsports operation, is also excited to have Carpentier back behind the wheel.
“Patrick was a great fit from the get-go, and our guys loved working with him,” Keeney said. “We were impressed by the way he stepped right up after almost eight months removed from the cockpit of a stock car. It will be interesting to see how we can build on the Darlington race.”
Carpentier, who competed in Cup last season for the team now known as Richard Petty Motorsports, plans to make at least one Nationwide start beyond Charlotte, at Montreal for Michael Waltrip Racing.

May 14, 2009 at 11:25 AMAlthough I was surprised that they replaced David with Patrick last week, I'm not really surprised that SK has decided to keep Patrick. David got shafted though in my opinion, since he was doing pretty well for the team, considering that they are an upstart team that's got little sponsorship.

May 14, 2009 at 3:34 PMWhat The Heck Is Going On Here!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I Don't Understand What The Guys At SK Are Doing. David Has Done A Fantastic Job for These Guys On Short Notice And With Little In The Garage. Nothing Against Patrick Here, I Just Feel That David Started This Ride And Hasn't Done Anything In My Opinion To Not Be In It Now... If Anyone Knows Why This Is Happening, Feel Free To Let The Rest Of Us In On It.

May 14, 2009 at 8:21 PMA lot of things behind the scene we don't know probably.
The other thing is sponsorship from Canadian companies might be helpful since they didn't get hit as hard as he US so might be a good idea to invest a little in Carpentier who proved last year he's really no worse than David.

May 14, 2009 at 11:03 PMDavid took the ride with this unsponsored, start up team. He was 20th in points when he was canned. You bet he got the shaft. If not for getting caught up in Jeff Burton's wreck at Vegas and getting booted by Bernie Lamar at Nashville, he would have been even higher.
To post number 4, what sport are you watching if you think Carpentier is "really no worse than David"? Certainly you're not talking about race wins, let alone championships.
It also tells you about the "quality" of this team that in their announcement there was not even a note of thanks for David's efforts.
