BRISTOL, Tenn. - An unlikely pair will lead the field to the green flag for tonight's Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Cale Gale and Dario Franchitti, two drivers with no wins and one pole between them in a combined 39 previous starts, qualified first and second, respectively, for the Food City 250. The pole was the first for Gale in the series.

"We were really good," Gale said of his lap. "We were right where we needed to be. I don't know what else to say. It was handling really good. It's been handling really good all day so hopefully we can keep it up there all night."

Kevin Harvick Inc.'s Gale (122.007) and Chip Ganassi Racing's Franchitti (121.489) were followed by Roush Fenway Racing's Greg Biffle, Gillett Evernham Motorsports' Kasey Kahne and Richard Childress Racing's Scott Wimmer.

David Stremme (Rusty Wallace Racing), Brian Vickers (Braun Racing), Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway), points leader Clint Bowyer (RCR) and David Reutimann (Michael Waltrip Racing) completed the top 10.

Four drivers - Joey Logano, John Wes Townley, Nick Tucker and Ryan Hackett - spun or crashed on their laps.

Townley, Tucker and Hackett along with Morgan Shepherd, Kenny Hendrick, Kertus Davis, Johnny Chapman, Brian Keselowski and Mike Harmon all failed to qualify.

Coverage of the race begins at 7:30 p.m. EDT, with the green flag set to wave just after 8.

Franchitti should have started in Busch to begin with and acclamated to Nascar. Maybe he will be able to adapt to our league. Hey, it's not a easy as it looks now is it.
