Richard Childress Racing says that John Wes Townley will compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for the team in 2010, with primary sponsorship from Zaxby's.

Townley, 19, is completing his first full season of Nationwide Series competition this year, driving for RAB. The Watkinsville, Ga., native is 24th in the point standings despite competing in just 23 of the 32 events. He finished seventh in the 2008 ARCA Series point standings, with eight top-10 finishes in that rookie season.

"I look forward to the opportunity to drive for Richard Childress Racing next year," Townley said in a news release. "It's a thrill to be part of their organization. They have such a well-respected history and have produced solid results over the years. I'm confident we'll run well next season."

Townley's car number has yet to be determined.

“We are proud to welcome Zaxby’s to the RCR family of partners, and John Wes Townley to our driver lineup for 2010,” team owner Richard Childress said. “Zaxby’s was started with little more than a dream and desire, much like RCR was in 1969, and has become a great success story throughout the Southeast. John Wes is just getting started in his NASCAR career, and will benefit from the on-the-job training he’ll receive from RCR’s veteran lineup of drivers.”

Zaxby's, a restaurant specializing in Buffalo wings and chicken fingers, sponsored Townley at RAB Racing this season.

Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Their poor fab shop--Too bad his Daddy wouldn't give the sponsorship to a better driver--like Darnell!! But then, I guess he does get a lot of air time!

Right on, #1. Anytime you wreck more cars than you have starts (which is rather impossible), there must be some sort of BIG sponsor that follows him around ... those poor fabricators for RCR.

Absolutely disgusting. Folks, we no longer have anything resembling racing. Rich boys have always been in racing from the beginning, but this fan will not waste one more sunday watching the JWT's or Danica's of the world. Bring on the best drivers. The only way to change this nonsense is to boycott the sponsors who fund it. I love M&Ms but have not eaten them since Kyle took over, and won't until they are off that car. Boycott Zaxby's. Shame on you RCR. It's not racing anymore, it's a BUSINESS.

Buescher at Finch, J Wes Wreckly at RCR and I guess Brian Scott is next, none of them have proven they can drive anything. Why don't we just rank them by their dad's bank accounts? It would sure save people a lot of work. NASCAR has brought this on themselves and will get what they deserve. More fans leaving the sport and more real sponsors bailing out. I wouldn't eat at Zaxby's because I'm afraid there would be chunks of concrete wall in my chicken!

And you can add Justin Lofton to the mix too! His Daddy must have lots of cows! I've been a racing fan for 50 years. It's a sad, sad situation. Let's just follow ARCA. They are true racers and they don't complain when they race for $15K to win at dega!

#4, Brian Scott is a pretty good Truck driver, if you look at what his team has done. They aren't a powerhouse team, and he's driven pretty well.

Zaxby's amazes me though. Their food is absolutely terrible, and everyone I know thinks so. Their locations are really bad compared to other restaurants they're competing against. It amazes me they're able to stay afloat.

This guy has wrecked more often than any other driver on the circuit. It's all about the money and he will continue to wreck.
    Who cares, he's exciting!

I guess some people don't understand sponsorship. They are looking for a return on the money spent. If daddy owns the chicken chain, let him race. But don't expect anybody to eat there because they like his driving or contribution to the sport. What part of "the best drivers" can people not grasp? That is what the fans want. Not rich boys and pin-up girls. Maybe I'm wrong.
