NASCAR takes 6 Nationwide engines to test after Richmond race

RICHMOND, Va. – NASCAR took six engines from Nationwide Series teams to test on the dynamometer, series director Joe Balash said Friday night following the Lipton Tea 250 at Richmond International Raceway.
Engines represented six engine builders as they were taken from the cars of Joey Logano (Joe Gibbs Racing), Jason Leffler (Triad Racing Technologies), Jeff Burton (Earnhardt-Childress Racing Technologies), Brad Keselowski (Hendrick), Justin Allgaier (Penske) and Matt Kenseth (Roush-Yates).
NASCAR occasionally takes engines to test horsepower and see if any rule changes need to be made.
Balash said the group tested four restrictor-plate engines last week after Talladega. Those tested engines came from the cars of D.J. Kennington (Ernie Elliott engines), Carl Edwards (Roush-Yates), Kevin Harvick (Earnhardt-Childress Racing Technologies) and Joey Logano (JGR). Balash said he was pleased with the results of that test.

May 3, 2009 at 1:20 AMGM is crying again because their new engine is not winning most of the races--notice no engine was taken from ANY of Hendrick's BIG,RICH TEAM!!! It was Hendrick that pushed Nascar for an Engine Dyno back in the late 1990's when Ford's Stock Block engine was kicking their butts. Hendrick got his wish and they gave GM/Chev another new head, and since that time has allowed GM TWO more ground up,non-stock,pure bred racing engines. Ford teams are still using that 351 STOCK BASED Block now---GM better take advantage of the Nascar FAVORITISM they've bought with years of Big Buck$ Sponsorship of Nascar Races,Tracks, and free car, trucks, and pacecars for Nascar "Officials" while they can---the Japanese are replacing those GM BucksSS with Toyota Money and Sponsorships. Soon the American Taxpayers and Obama Administration who technically own and will eventually controll GM will demand GM not waste MILLION$$ on racing when they can't sell enough cars to pay their bills. No doubt GM/Hendrick is behind this latest engine check, just like when Nascar used to weekly handicap the Ford Thunderbird because it was "more aerodynamic" than those boxy Monte Carlos. More GM Whining for not winning-who will be handicapped next for GM??

May 4, 2009 at 9:30 PM5Harry Risher - Congradualations on a great write in. Totally true, all that you said.
Report as AbuseI'm sure with the politics NASCAR plays and lack of rules (depending what your name is or the pay off from the billionaire (guess who)the rules will be changed.
I'm sure if Kyle was driving a broketie (new name after June 1st bankruptcy filing) there would be no rule change.
Money talks and so does politics in NASCAR. Very sad to see and that's why it should never be placed in a professional sport catagory.
Leave the rules alone and let credit be given for good driving NASCAR.
