NASCAR changes Nationwide Series engine rule to coincide with Truck series

NASCAR Nationwide Series teams will have the same engine rule recently enacted for the Camping World Truck Series.
The rule, effective after March 25, states that teams will not be permitted to compete in more than three consecutive events without using an engine that has been used in competition in any preceding event. This does not include the events at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway
Although the rule was originally interpreted to mean that a team would have to use an old engine every three races, a NASCAR official clarified Saturday that the rule will mean that teams will have to use an old engine once every four races.
The rule is designed to cut costs for teams.
For example, Fitz Motorsports leased engines for Nationwide races from Mike Ege Racing Engines for $30,000 a race last year, according to an invoice filed in a recent lawsuit involving the team.
