DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Thirty drivers are locked in to the NASCAR Nationwide Series series-opening race based on points from last year, and Roush Fenway Racing’s Greg Biffle is eligible for a past champion’s provisional, leaving 19 drivers to vie for the final 12 starting spots.
Seven drivers won’t make the Camping World 300 field in qualifying, which is scheduled for Friday. The race is Saturday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway.
NASCAR approved three points transfers Tuesday: Kenny Hendrick, whose owner Ed Smith has formed a deal with Chip Ganassi, will use Ganassi’s No. 40 points from last year. Also, Front Row Motorsports will be allowed to use its No. 24 points from last year for Tony Raines in the No. 34 this year. And RAB Racing's John Wes Townley will drive using the points of the No. 4 Jay Robinson Racing car from last year.

Needing to qualify for the race on speed will be Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, Roush Fenway Racing’s Matt Kenseth, ML Motorsports’ Mark Green, MSRP Motorsports’ Johnny Chapman, MSRP Motorsports’ Terry Cook, Davis Motorsports’ Danny O’Quinn, Rick Ware Racing’s Stanton Barrett, Braun Racing’s David Reutimann, Jay Robinson Racing’s Kertus Davis, Mike Harmon Racing’s Mike Harmon, K Automotive Racing’s Brian Keselowski, Mac Hill Motorsports’ Larry Foyt, Key Motorsports’ Scott Wimmer, Davis Motorsports’ Mike Wallace, Rick Ware Racing’s Derrike Cope, Hendrick Motorsports’ Tony Stewart, Day Enterprises’ Justin Ashburn, Nemco Motorsports’ Joe Nemechek and Trail Motorsport’s Johnny Borneman III.
