CONCORD, N.C. – NASCAR Nationwide Series testing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway was delayed for 70 minutes this afternoon for general maintenance to the Turn 1 SAFER barrier, which had to be re-bolted to the concrete retaining wall.
"They physically walk the race track and look at the inside and outside walls [before testing]," NASCAR Nationwide Series Director Joe Balash said. "It moved during the inspection."
Several teams have already departed after the first of two days of series testing at the track. Roush Fenway Racing’s Greg Biffle, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Johnny Benson and Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick Inc.’s Kevin Harvick, Rusty Wallace Racing’s David Stremme and Steve Wallace and JR Motorsports’ David Green left after Monday night’s session.
Two teams have joined the session today. Kertus Davis is driving the No. 0 Davis Motorsports car, and Eric McClure is driving the Front Row Motorsports’ No. 24.
The session, originally was scheduled for a four-hour session this afternoon and a three-hour session this evening. Teams will now test straight through to 9 p.m. EDT.
