Michael McDowell gets ride for Chicago Nationwide race; 52 cars entered
Michael McDowell, 11th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver standings, will get a chance to improve his position, but he will do so with a different team as he is among the 52 entries for Friday's Dollar General 300 at Chicagoland Speedway.
McDowell, who has driven for JTG Daugherty Racing this year but has seen the funding for his program run out, will drive the No. 81 MacDonald Motorsports car this weekend. Kelly Bires will drive the No. 47 JTG Daugherty car.
Among the 52 entries, 12 are Sprint Cup regulars: Ryan Newman (JR Motorsports), David Ragan (Roush Fenway Racing), David Reutimann (Braun Racing), Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway), Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing), Joey Logano (JGR), Jeff Burton (Richard Childress Racing), Brian Vickers (Braun Racing), Kevin Harvick (Kevin Harvick Inc.), Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway), Joe Nemechek (Nemco Motorsports) and Paul Menard (Yates Racing).
Among part-time drivers with full-time teams are Mike Wallace (JD Motorsports), Casey Atwood (Day Enterprises Racing), Robert Richardson (R3 Motorsports), Stanton Barrett (Rick Ware Racing), Scott Wimmer (Key Motorsports), Justin Hobgood (Rick Ware), Kevin Hamlin (Means Racing) and Trevor Bayne (Michael Waltrip Racing).
