The sexual and racial discrimination and harassment lawsuit filed in June by former NASCAR official Mauricia Grant has officially been dismissed in U.S. District Court in New York, according to court filings.

NASCAR had announced Dec. 18 in a news release that it had reached a settlement in the suit, and that the terms of the settlement are confidential and neither NASCAR nor Grant admits liability nor wrongdoing by way of the settlement.

NASCAR and Grant filed jointly Friday to voluntarily dismiss the case. No terms were listed in the filing, which was just one paragraph stating that both sides had agreed to discontinue the case.

Grant, who worked for what was then known as the NASCAR Busch Series from 2005 through much of 2007, alleged in a $225 million lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in New York that she was fired two months after airing complaints of racial and gender discrimination and harassment by series officials, including series director Joe Balash. Grant, who is black, detailed more than 50 instances of alleged racial and sexual harassment.

In its response to the suit, NASCAR alleged that Grant coined some of the terms she deemed offensive and that she was fired for cause. NASCAR also alleged that Grant did not follow the sanctioning body’s procedures for addressing employee concerns.

NASCAR did fire two officials following an investigation into Grant's claims.

Both sides agreed not to publicly discuss the details of the case or the terms of the agreement going forward, according to the news release.
