FORT WORTH, Texas – Matt Kenseth and David Ragan took the top two starting spots for Saturday's O’Reilly Challenge NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, giving Roush Fenway Racing a sweep of the front row.
Kenseth led the way with a lap of 187.201 mph in the No. 16 Ford, with Ragan clocking in at 186.548.
“I thought we had a chance to qualify pretty well, so hopefully it will run like that all day tomorrow,” said Kenseth, who will be going for his second Nationwide win in 13 starts this season.
Braun Racing’s Jason Leffler, Braun’s Kasey Kahne and Kevin Harvick Inc.’s Kevin Harvick completed the top five.
Positions six through 10 belonged to Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, JR Motorsports’ Brad Keselowski, Roush Fenway’s Carl Edwards, Braun’s Brian Vickers and CJM Racing’s Mike Bliss.
Busch is the series leader by 215 points over Edwards, with Keselowski 257 back in third.
R3 Motorsports’ Robert Richardson Jr. and Corrie Stott Racing’s Andy Ponstein both wrecked on their laps, but Richardson will make the race because of the team's position in Nationwide owner points.
Missing the show will be Day Enterprises Racing’s Casey Atwood, Mike Harmon Racing’s Mike Harmon and Ponstein.
The race is scheduled to begin at 12:45 p.m. EST Saturday.
