Specialty Racing says that Matt Carter will immediately take over the driving duties of the organization's No. 61 Ford in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, replacing Brandon Whitt.
Carter, the son of former NASCAR team owner Travis Carter, will debut with the team this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
“Everyone at Specialty Racing is excited about Matt Carter joining our team,” team co-owner Doug Taylor said. “Matt comes from a family rich in racing history and has had a good amount of success himself so far in his career. We feel that this is a perfect fit for our race organization at this time, and we look forward to some great things ahead for all of us.”
Specialty Racing has competed in all 15 Nationwide races so far this season and currently sits 27th in owner points.
Carter will be making his second career start in the series. He also has one career start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and 22 career starts in the Automobile Racing Club of America Re/Max Series, where he finished third in the final point standings last season.
