MADISON, Ill. - Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 20 team continues to be tough in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, leading the opening practice Friday at Gateway International Raceway. Eighteen-year-old rookie Joey Logano is in the car this weekend, and led the field with a lap of 132.704 mph.
Another teen-age driver, JR Motorsports' Landon Cassill, 19, was second fastest with a lap of 132.333 mph. Germain Racing's Mike Wallace, Richard Childress Racing's Scott Wimmer and Rusty Wallace Racing's Steve Wallace followed.
RCR's Clint Bowyer, the series points leader, was sixth, followed by Kevin Harvick Inc.'s Cale Gale, Chip Ganassi Racing's Reed Sorenson, Gillett Evernham Motorsports' Chase Miller and Roush Fenway Racing's Carl Edwards.
A second practice is scheduled for Friday at 8:45 p.m. EDT, with qualifying Saturday at 5:05 p.m. The race is slated to begin at 9:30 Saturday evening.
