Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 88 Nationwide Series entry for JR Motorsports, will join Navy fleet honorees from Naval Sea Systems Command to honor survivors and lost-at-sea family members from the USS Indianapolis on Friday at the Indiana War Memorial in downtown Indianapolis.
Keselowski, whose Nationwide car is sponsored by the Navy through the end of the season, and the Naval Sea Systems Command sailors will make a special presentation to USS Indianapolis survivors and family members at the USS Indianapolis Museum located inside the memorial.
“One of the cool things about working with the Navy is the opportunity I get to meet a number of really great sailors who are doing awesome things for our country,” Keselowski said. “To have the opportunity to meet and shake hands with some of the folks who served aboard USS Indianapolis – a ship that served a mission that would begin the end of World War II – is an honor.”
July 30 will mark the 63rd anniversary of the USS Indianapolis sinking. Friday's event, which is free and open to the public, will feature rides in a Navy flight simulator and an autograph session with Keselowski.
