Joey Logano wondering why Kevin Harvick spun him for fifth in Nationwide race at Bristol
BRISTOL, Tenn. – A lot of the talk with drivers this week was about lessons they were taught the hard way on the track.
Apparently Kevin Harvick tried to teach something to Joey Logano on the final lap of the Scotts Turf Builder 300 as Harvick spun Logano battling for fifth in the Nationwide Series event at Bristol Motor Speedway.
“He kept chopping down on me … and it just worked out the way it did,” Harvick said after his fifth-place finish. “I don’t feel like he gave me any room.”
Logano had to settle for 14th.
“I don’t understand that at all,” Logano said. “It was for fifth place, so I don’t know what he was doing. It wasn’t for the win. We ran together clean for almost the whole race and then he dumps me on the last lap. I don’t understand what he was thinking.”
Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards, the two drivers who have been the focus of the retaliation and payback talk after their incident two weeks ago in Atlanta, had clean races. Edwards is on three weeks probation following his payback of Keselowski.
“My first race under probation was good,” Edwards said. “I kept myself out of trouble. That’s good. That’s what we need to do. I need to focus on racing.”
