Jamie McMurray cruises to Nationwide pole at Lowe's Motor Speedway

CONCORD, N.C.Jamie McMurray won his second Nationwide Series pole in his eighth attempt this season, qualifying fastest Friday for the Dollar General 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
 
McMurray, who also won the pole for the race at Gateway International Raceway in July, had a fast lap of 184.508 mph in the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford.
 
McMurray led a trio of Sprint Cup drivers at the top of the leaderboard, as Richard Childress Racing’s Jeff Burton was second at 182.865, with Roush Fenway’s Carl Edwards third at 182.137.
 
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Joey Logano was fourth, with RCR’s Clint Bowyer fifth. Bowyer leads Edwards by 196 points in the Nationwide standings.
 
Kevin Harvick Inc.’s Kevin Harvick qualified sixth for Friday night’s race, with JTG Daughtery Racing’s Marcos Ambrose seventh, Braun Racing’s Dave Blaney eighth, JTG Daugherty’s Kelly Bires ninth and JR MotorsportsJimmie Johnson 10th.
 
Mark Green (ML Motorsports), Kertus Davis (Jay Robinson Racing), Kenny Hendrick (Stanton Barrett Motorsports), Andy Ponstein (Stott Classic Racing), Morgan Shepherd (Faith Motorsports), Johnny Sauter (Derrike Cope Racing), Josh Wise (Michael Waltrip Racing), Larry Gunselman (Davis Motorsports), Justin Marks (Germain Racing) and Robert Richardson (R3 Motorsports) failed to qualify.
 
Marks and Richardson crashed in practice Thursday and did not have backup cars, so both widthrew.
 
Sprint Cup driver Brian Vickers, D.J. Kennington, John Wes Townley and Wise all crashed during qualifying.
