JR Motorsports penalized 25 points, Tony Eury Sr. fined $10,000 for unapproved shock
JR Motorsports has been penalized for a left front shock that wouldn’t rebound on the third-place car of Aric Almirola following the NASCAR Nationwide Series Kroger 200 on Saturday at O’Reilly Raceway Park.
Crew chief Tony Eury Sr. was fined $10,000 and the team was docked 25 points, NASCAR announced Tuesday in a news release. Almirola, who was making his first Nationwide Series start of the year, also was docked 25 points. The No. 88 JRM team remained eighth in the owner standings but is now 119 points out of seventh (Penske Racing No. 12) and 67 points ahead of ninth (Roush Fenway Racing No. 98).
The infraction was discovered in postrace inspection Saturday.
