WEST ALLIS, Wis. – JD Motorsports owner Johnny Davis said Friday at the Milwaukee Mile that his NASCAR Nationwide Series organization will expand to three teams for the rest of the year.
Davis has fielded the No. 01 Chevrolet for Danny O’Quinn in every race this year, and the No. 0 Chevrolet for several drivers in every race. Davis said his son, Kertus, has returned to the team and will drive the No. 04 Chevy for the rest of the year.
Also, veteran Mike Wallace, who has driven for the team in two races this year, will be in the No. 0 entry for the remaining races. Wallace replaces Mark Green, who left to join Jay Robinson Racing’s No. 49 team.
“Pretty good group of guys to try to sell [races],” Davis said of his three drivers.
Kertus Davis left his dad’s team a little more than a year ago but decided to quit Robinson’s team before last weekend’s race at Kentucky Speedway.
“He left them first and then came and called me and asked me if I had anything he could do,” Davis said. “We had that third car we were trying to get ready and trying to get a third team started, and I told him he could manage that deal.”
Kertus and his father had serious disagreements when Kertus left last year, but Johnny Davis said those issues are in the past.
“You get mad and aggravated when things don’t go the way you them want to, but everything’s cool,” Davis said. “It always has been.”
