HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Joe Gibbs Racing President J.D. Gibbs said Saturday that he had spoken with Denny Hamlin concerning his driver’s continuing feud with fellow driver Brad Keselowski.
“Yeah, we talked,” Gibbs said. “I said, ‘You know, that kind of stuff usually takes care of itself.’”
On Friday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Hamlin said he had grown tired of getting wrecked as a result of contact with Keselowski, adding that, “it’s a one-sided scale that eventually has to even up.”
A week earlier in the Nationwide Series race at Phoenix, Hamlin tapped the JR Motorsports driver during a restart, then spun when Keselowski got into the back of his Toyota twice on the other end of the 1-mile track.
“It’s surprising,” Gibbs said. “What gets you most frustrated ... [is usually] there’s give and take. If you tap a guy and he wrecks you, tap a guy and he wrecks you, tap a guy and he wrecks you, it’s like, 'C’mon, something’s got to give.'
“If it was just us, I’d get it. But if it’s not [it's] not. It has a way of taking care of itself."
