CONCORD, N.C. – It should come as no surprise that the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota led the final Nationwide Series practice Thursday at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. The No. 20 entry has won the last four races in the series.

Denny Hamlin – who won one of those races, at Richmond – drove the No. 20 to the fastest lap Thursday. Hamlin was the only driver over the 178 mph mark in the final practice for the Carquest Auto Parts 300, going 178.595 mph.

Hamlin was more than a tenth of a second faster than runnerup Steve Wallace, who went 177.971 in the No. 66 Rusty Wallace Racing Chevrolet. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was third at 177.942 in the No. 83 JR Motorsports Chevy.

Brian Vickers (Braun Racing) was fourth, with David Reutimann (Michael Waltrip Racing) fifth. Vickers’ teammates, Jason Leffler and Kyle Busch, were sixth and seventh, respectively, with Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway Racing) eighth, Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway) and Jason Keller (CJM Racing) 10th.

Qualifying is slated for 3:45 p.m. EDT on Saturday, with the 200-lap race getting the green flag at 7:30 p.m.
