Hamlin posts top speed in final Nationwide practice

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 20 team isn't showing any signs of slowing down.
Denny Hamlin, in the seat of the No. 20 this weekend, posted the fastest speed (131.124 mph) in the final Nationwide Series practice on Thursday night in preparation for Friday's Bashas' Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.
Hamlin's 35th lap, made after the sun had dropped below the horizon, edged out a strong effort by Phoenix Racing's Mike Bliss (130.605 mph), who is driving in his second race for his new team after leaving Fitz Motorsports.
Kyle Busch (JGR) was third-fastest, followed by Rusty Wallace Racing's Steve Wallace and JTG Racing's Marcos Ambrose.
David Reutimann (Michael Waltrip Racing), Brad Coleman (Baker Curb Racing), Clint Bowyer (Richard Childress Racing), Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing) and Jeff Burton (RCR) rounded out the top 10.
Nationwide Series qualifying begins at 5:05 p.m. EDT Friday, followed by the race at 9:45 EDT.
