CONCORD, N.C. - Joe Gibbs Racing's Denny Hamlin paced the first of two NASCAR Nationwide Series test sessions scheduled for Monday at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Hamlin, who ran a quick lap of 178.903 mph, was followed on the speed chart by Gillett Evernham Motorsports' Kasey Kahne at 178.424 mph and Rusty Wallace Racing's David Stremme at 178.365.
Roush Fenway Racing's Carl Edwards and JR Motorsports' Brad Keselowski rounded out the top five fastest speeds.
David Green, testing the No. 83 JR Motorsports car to be driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the May 24 Carquest Auto Parts 300, crashed in Turn 3 with a flat tire.
The Chevrolet of Robert Richardson Jr. spun on the backstretch in a separate incident. Monday's final session runs from 6 to 9 p.m. EDT.
Two more sessions are scheduled for Tuesday.
