DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.Bobby Hamilton Jr. recently sold the bar/restaurant he owned in Nashville, Tenn. So what did he do with the money? He bought into a race team.

Hamilton Jr. bought 50 percent of the Sadler Bros. Racing team, which is based in Nashville, Hamilton Jr.’s hometown. The team will be known as Sadler-Hamilton Racing and will run a handful of ARCA and NASCAR Camping World East Series races.

“Me and my dad always talked about doing something on a smaller level, like being a big fish in a little pond,” Hamilton Jr. said of the reason why he bought into the team.

While unsure of his Nationwide Series future, Hamilton Jr. originally talked to the team about driving in the East Series for them this season. But Team Rensi Motorsports secured a sponsor, and Hamilton Jr. will compete in the Nationwide Series this year.

Still, Hamilton Jr. remained interested in the Sadler team.

“I went over there and talked to those guys, and they were halfway talking about shutting down,” Hamilton Jr. said. “I was like, ‘Well, wait a minute. I’ll tell you what we can do.’”

The No. 95 Chevrolet driven by Willie Allen made the Daytona Nationwide race, and Hamilton Jr. said the team could run Allen in other ARCA or Camping World races.

Meanwhile, Hamilton Jr. will drive for the team in at least four Camping World races and two or three ARCA events.
