CJM Racing to suspend operations of its NASCAR Nationwide Series team
CJM Racing co-owners Tony and Bryan Mullet said in a news release Friday that their team would not return for the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series season.
CJM moved to the Nationwide Series for 2007 after an aborted attempt at Sprint Cup. In three seasons, the team fielded cars for 10 drivers, posting six top-five and 20 top-10 finishes in 87 races.
In a statement, the Mullets gave no reason for suspending operations.
"As of now, it appears that CJM will not be running the 2010 Nationwide season,” the statement said. “It is really hard for us to see this great group of people move in other directions. They have done so much to build this program, and beyond that, it has become like a family.”
Jason Keller was the team’s first Nationwide driver, but he was released late in 2008 in favor of Scott Lagasse Jr. Lagasse left the team in the middle of 2009.
"Our vision for life, business and racing is to honor God with the time, talents and resources he has given us,” the Mullets’ statement said. “Over the last four years, we have been able to extend that vision into racing. We felt racing could be used as a platform to share that vision with millions of people. We have been surrounded by a great group of people that have supported us and developed a successful program. …
"We have built many great relationships within the industry, and we want to thank everyone for showing us support. We are thankful for the time we have had to enjoy this great sport and are focused intently on what the future will bring."
