BRISTOL, Tenn. – Even without regular crew chief Jason Ratcliff, Kyle Busch paced the final Nationwide Series practice Friday morning at Bristol Motor Speedway in preparation for tonight’s Food City 250.

Ratcliff was indefinitely suspended by NASCAR, and Joe Gibbs Racing officials extended that to the end of the season, for his role in trying to alter horsepower results of a chassis dyno test at Michigan last weekend.

Doug Hewitt is serving as Busch’s crew chief on the No. 18 Toyota this weekend.

Busch’s speed of 121.914 mph edged Scott Wimmer, who went 121.336 mph in Richard Childress Racing’s No. 29 Chevrolet. Wimmer’s teammate, points leader Clint Bowyer, was third at 121.297.

Cale Gale (Kevin Harvick Inc.) was fourth, with David Stremme (Rusty Wallace Racing) fifth.

Brian Vickers (Braun Racing) was sixth, followed by Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing), Jason Leffler (Braun), David Ragan (Roush Fenway) and Steve Wallace (RWR).

Qualifying for the Food City 250 is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. EDT Friday, with the 250-lap race slated to begin shortly after 8 p.m.
