Burney Lamar let go from his ride with Braun Racing's Nationwide Series team

Braun Racing officials have released Burney Lamar from his role as a part-time driver with the NASCAR Nationwide Series team, effective immediately.
Sprint Cup driver Brian Vickers is already scheduled to compete in the next three races in the team's No. 32 Toyota. Officials hope to name a driver or drivers for the remaining races at a later date.
“Burney Lamar is truly a standout guy who has great potential to be successful in this sport,” team owner Todd Braun said in a news release. “I wish the best for him in his future endeavors.”
Lamar drove in nine races this season for Braun, with a best finish of eighth at Kentucky two weeks ago. He finished 22nd last weekend at Milwaukee.
“We look forward to the remainder of the 2009 season with Brian Vickers and the addition of some extremely talented drivers to the lineup of the No. 32 Toyota,” Braun said. “We are building for the future of this team, and we believe that we are moving in a very positive direction.”

Can't people just be straight up honest nowadays? Anyways i'm guessing that Todd took notice of Kelly Biers great runs with KHI and might give him a shot. Or the RPM guys (Sorenson, Sadler, Allmendinger, Kahne) could take over. Lots of possibilities. Brandon Whitt just quit his ride (or got fired) too.

Jun 22, 2009 at 8:11 PMBraun's partnership with RPM is only for Kahne and one race for Sadler if I remember correctly.
Report as AbuseI'd love to see James Buescher in the car.

Jun 22, 2009 at 10:41 PMBuescher drove for Braun a bit last year, not sure why they let him go. But he's got too much on his plate, running full time for Circle Bar in the Truck Series. I thought he'd run away with Rookie Of The Year, but Tayler Malsam is hangin tough right now.

Jun 22, 2009 at 10:57 PMNot at all surprised. Burney already had a chance with KHI when they were a multi-car team and in my opinion better than they are now. He didn't stay there and he's been doing nothing in arguably the best independent equipment in the NW garage (if you count Braun as independent). He might have potential, but if he does it's definitely hidden right now.
Report as AbuseAs for who replaces him, it would be great for Kelly Bires to finally get the ride he deserves. He's certainly got the talent and could bring some stability to the 32 team. Or, if Braun can swing expanding to 3 cars, I'd love to see James Buescher back in the car. He's young and inexperienced, but he does deserve the opportunity after showing he could compete last year.
