Brad Parrott named crew chief for Rusty Wallace Racing’s Brendan Gaughan

Brad Parrott, who most recently was crew chief for RAB Racing’s John Wes Townley, will be crew chief for Rusty Wallace Racing’s Brendan Gaughan, RWR officials announced Wednesday.

Parrott was a Cup crew chief for Dale Jarrett at Robert Yates Racing and has worked for several teams – including Roush Fenway Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing – in what is now the Nationwide Series.

He also served as a tire specialist for team owner Rusty Wallace when Wallace drove at Penske Racing in the 1990s.

Gaughan, who had Bryan Berry as his crew chief for most of last season, finished ninth in the Nationwide Series standings in 2009. The team has changed from Chevrolet to Toyota and has formed an alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing.

“I’m very excited about both being a part of Rusty Wallace Racing and working with Brendan Gaughan,” Parrott said. “Rusty has put together all of the pieces we need to be one of the premier teams in the Nationwide Series. At the same time, Brendan’s a guy who has obviously shown talent over the years. He almost won a couple of Nationwide races last season.”

Parrott will have a familiar voice on the radio – his father, Buddy, who will be a spotter for Gaughan in select 2010 events.

“I really feel like our team has paid its dues over the last few years,” Wallace said. “We’ve had our ups and our downs, but we’ve really worked hard over time to improve our team.”

This will probably feel like a vacation for Brad. After having a driver yelling hell no,and then one who tried to knock down every wall at every track.Lets just hope the two here, both Brevdan and Brad can keep humor to motivate each other.

Brendan is well deserving of a win, and hopefully this will become a winning combination.

I thought it was Todd that was crew chief for Dale Jarrett. Wasn't Brad in Nationwide for several teams. It will be interesting to watch how this works out with Rusty and Brad.

every where brad went he had a very competive car,but bredan gaughn as the driver, not a top driver for sure, but one with deep pockets that provides sponsorship, rusty will keep bredan around as long as the sponsorship dollars are deposited in the bank.brad a great nationwide crew chief.he was dale jarrett crew chief in cup when todd became competion director at yates, but then they let him go 1/2 way thru the season. who dat say they gonna beat them saints, who dat!!!!!!!!!!go saints, superbowl 2010

    Hey, Jesse;

We ran against Brendan Gaughan at Irwindale a few years ago in the Winston West Series.
Just because he has a wealthy casino-owning father who's kept him in the sport, you can't say he isn't a great driver.
With Rusty's TV career falling by the wayside, I wish him all the best as an owner in the Nationwide Series and I'm glad that Rusty and Brendan have each other.
If Brendan can get it together with Brad Parrott and win some races in 2010, perhaps they can ratchet things up to get Brendan back behind the wheel of a cup car in 2011.
    I hope so.
Brendan always ran us (Eric Norris #32 Taurus) clean and I wish him well.

    Thanks for listening,

    Davy Jones

Thank you, DavyJones. Brendan is probably one of the most grounded people I have ever met. Yes, Michael's pockets did help, but sponsorship is sponsorship, no matter who it is. Brendan is well overdue for a win, and this will be the year.

I'd like to see his combo work, Brendan's really not that bad a of a driver, just needs some good chemistry. Brad may just be the thing that teams needs.
