Phoenix Racing officials confirmed Tuesday that Mike Bliss has signed with the team and will drive Phoenix’s No. 1 Chevrolets in the Nationwide Series.

Bliss, who left Fitz Motorsports after the Nashville race, sits fifth in the Nationwide Series points standings.

“I believe this is the spark we need to get our program competitive again” team owner James Finch said in a news release. “I have asked everybody on the team to step it up, and I’m looking for better results right away.”

Finch’s team is 22nd in the owners standings. Johnny Sauter started the season in the car but was replaced by Sterling Marlin for Nashville.

“I know with Phoenix Racing’s history, Miccosukee’s partnership, and Hendrick engines that we will be a threat to win races, and compete for the 2008 championship,” Bliss said.

Bliss makes his debut in this weekend’s O’Reilly 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.
